I'm having a nightmare trying to get tickets on the Renfe website for trips in Spain. I need Barcelona to Madrid, then Madrid to Porto (via Pontevedra). I know the trains are there & available & I can buy tickets, but not with an interrail pass. Please help me, I'm about to tear my hair out. :((

Hi.
It is not possible to book Interrail reservations on the RENFE website. But you can book it here on the railcc website: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
I generally recommend to buy the reservations directly in Spain at a railway station.
Madrid to Porto by night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/madrid-to-porto

Hi Peter, thanks for you reply. When I try to find the Madrid to Porto train on the railcc shop, it says that prices are currently unavailable online. Is there a UK number that I can ring so I can talk to a person about it?

Also, if we wait until we arrive at a station to book our reservations, will there be seats available? Since it's August! :)

Hi.
You can't book the whole route in on step - book the night train only.

First book the night train, then use a free train to Porto.
The night train in direction to Pontevedra with change in Redondela de Galicia seems not to be available as reservation online. But try it.

Fill in MADRID CHAMA and REDONDELA DE GALICIA, select I'm travelling with a rail pass.

If you can't get it online, try the connection via Lisbon - this night train is definitely available for online booking.

Peter :)
