Planning to travel by rail through the Netherlands to Hamburg. In the past we've tended not to book a room ahead - just turn up and hope that a hotel has a room to spare, usually works - though we had a near go in Stockholm a year or so back (I understand there to be a shortage of rooms in that city however)
Now we are getting a bit older, and I'm not keen on walking too far, wondering what to hotel room availability is like at this time of year i.e. July/August?

Hi Philip.
If you want to stay flexible, I recommend to pre-book the evening before arriving in the new city for the new hostel or hotel.
Most hostels/hotels offer free internet access (or you will always find an internet shop at train stations), so just book online one day in advance for example here: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] or here: [ux]https://rail.shop/bookingcom[/ux] or somewhere else.
Then you arrive in the new city and know where to go. Will save you a lot of time - and you can see recommendations and prices on these booking websites.
Peter :)
