Hi there! I'm planning a 30 day interrail for August, and i would like to visit this 16 cities:
Copenhagen - Oslo - Stockholm - Helsinki - Warsaw - Prague - Bratislava - Viena - Ljubljana - Venice - Florence - Rome - Zagreb - Budapest - Bucharest - Sofia
I never done anything like it, but it seems like to much, can you guys share a little bit of your experience? I might have to consider leaving Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Stockholm for another time?
I'm leaving from Lisbon, so from Lisbon-Paris i should expect something like 2 days, cause flying to start point in August is quite expensive (I looked up on easy jet +- 110€ to Paris)
And i know i have to plan my route in a different way, can you guys share your wisdom?
Thank you in advance
Peter

Hi.
It is a big route you planed ... but it is possible! :)
So it is you personal decision if you want to make a lot of kilometers or if you prefer a more relaxed way of travel. I like both. :)
If you start from Lisbon, the best is to travel via Paris, Amsterdam to Copenhagen.
In Scandinavia itself, you have a lot of options... like Oslo-Bergen and returen. Or Oslo - Trondheim - Bodö, a short visit on the Lofoten islands, and back via Narvik - Inlandsbanan ( https://rail.cc/en/train-type/inlandsbanan/88 ) - Stockholm.
From Helsinki down to Warsaw, you have the option to travel via the Baltic countries which are not included into Interrail, but inexpensive to travel. Have a look here on this route: https://rail.cc/blog/de/baltikum-zug-bus-faehre/
And for the South-Western part of your trip change the order:
Vienna - Rome: by direct night train.
Rome - Florence - Venice (very touristy and expensive).
Border crossing to Slovenia: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
Lake Bled - Ljubljana - Zagreb and so on ...
If you want to save some time on the last part of your trip, travel: Warsaw - Krakow - Prague - Vienna - Budapest and skip Italy.
I hope this will help you and give you some ideas ...
Peter :)

Thank you very much Peter, i'll take a serious look into it.
But don't you think it's quite a strech so many cities in 30 days? What do you recommend max cities for a 30 day trip, 10-12?
Cheers!

Hi.
Yes, like I said, it is a lot - but you can do it. It is your personal decision. :)
I already did Interrail tours travelling every day of my 1-month pass.
And also more relaxing ones, staying always 2 or 3 nights at one place.

Rome - Paris @ https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route/rome-paris/italy-france/150
Paris - Lisbon @ https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route/paris-lisbon/france-portugal/60
About the city-to-city, i got some doubts, if it's possible for you to tell me about it:
* This city-to-city schedule is all that i need correct? I just have to be on the station in time (The time that indicates in the site) to catch the train, is this correct?
* EG in Lisbon - Paris at some point i got this:
TGV | SNCF InterRail: reservation required
2nd class: EUR 1,50 - 25
1st class: EUR 1,50 - 25
EuRail: reservation required
2nd class: EUR 3
1st class: EUR 3
Train tickets: reservation fee included in ticket fare
I need to make some kind of reservation before i leave Lisbon, is that it?
And about the 2nd class with bed, that kind of thing i can pay at the moment i arrive at the train or i have to do it a couple of days before?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers

Hi.
Looks okay your route.
Rome to Paris is difficult - no direct night train, others with extremely high extra fees. Think about Rome - Nice - Barcelona ...
Concerning reservations, please read here the introducing text: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
It is never possible to preview if a train is full or not. So I can't give you a rule saying you have to book 1, 2 or 5 days in advance.
Interrail is not valid in your country of residence: https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail
And yes, you will need a reservation for Lisbon to Hendaye and one for Hendaye to Paris. Book them early!
The schedules are always up to date - but it might be possible to have some changes at short notice. Double check it at the day of departure or one day before here: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
