We are doing a trip over 32 days which includes Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and finally France, catching a Eurostar from Paris back to the UK on the 24th of August.
We have a day in Geneva on the 17th of August, but we can't really figure out where to go / what to see on the 18th-21st (we'll be spending 2 days in Paris on the 22nd/23rd before leaving on the morning of the 24th).
Any ideas? Lyon, Grenoble, Nevers, Tours, Orleans have been looked at, we did fancy going to the south of france but to be honest I don't think we'll have enough time..
Many Thanks
Jon

Humm...you could go to the Arles/Avignon/Aix/Marseille area which I like...maybe to Cote Bleue which I think is very nice and hopefully will visit myself soon.
What I could also recommend is Le Puy en Velay close to Lyon (Lyon itself being very nice as well), a small pilgrimage town in the middle of France.
I think it wouldnt be much of a problem to head south, since you have frequent TGV connections that bring you back to Paris in only about three hours from the Marseille area.
On a completely other note you could also take the night train from Geneve towards Irun and head for Bordeaux and/or Arcachon and the Dune de Pyla.
What _I_ would do is probably: Geneve - Avignon/Cote Bleue (by TER trains rather than TGV to save on reservation costs), then with the Cevenol via the Ligne des Cevennes, a small branch line along the Allier river to Le Puy and then back to Paris either via Clermont-Ferrand or via Lyon.
