Hi, sorry if this has been discussed before.

Planning a family trip this Christmas/New year flying in to Bucharest then traveling to Prague via Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna in the space of about 9/10 days. It seems like a 5 in 10 rail pass looks like a good option but my question is, would it work out cheaper to buy individual tickets for each leg of the journey?

there is 5 of us. 2 adults and 3 children aged between 9 & 13.

Thank you in advance for any advice or positive remarks.

impossible to say, as you did not state the route in full.
also: there MAY be lower online advance prices for prebooked trains, or locally-but then often only for returns.
google up cfr=ROM railways and see if they quote INTernational-except for Blava (just pay for an extra side return) price to Wien (Becs?) in ROM)-it is valid for 1 month and allows as much stops as you can fit in, ONLY along the prescribed route. The supplmts for sleep/seat etc are the same as for IR.
Also: there are very cheap buses Wien-BLava, ev 30 mins, for just a dayreturn-enough to see most of that city. or also special trainreturns, with citybus Blava included
