Hello,
me and my friends are heading to Europe by using Interrail Pass, but we found a problem. We'd like to travel from Bordeaux to Lisbon, but we wouldn't like to travel by TGV to Irún because of the price. I saw some train connection through Poitiers and Vitoria, but I couldn't find anything about the whole price of this connection. Could you please help us with this connection or would you please tell us if there is any other possible train/trains we could travel with?
Thank you very much! :)

Hi,
you can use the night train ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/nice-irun-icn-4730/141 ) don't know, how much you'll have to pay for that. So you can to San Sebastian for a day or check out Irun.
There is another possibility. Use a TER from Bordeaux to Hendaye, which is the last station ahead the border. From there you can use a local train to Irun. Check out http://www.euskotren.es/es/presentacioneuskotren for a timetable.
For example the TER will take departure at 16:35 and will arrive at 19:10. The TER is free to use with your IR-pass. Just have a look at http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ for the exact timetable.
Regards :)

Hi.
In addition what NatureOne already wrote... :)
Bordeaux dep: 1635 - free regional train
Hendaye arr: 1910
Hendaye dep: 1933 - Euskotren - EUR 1,50
Irun arr: 1939
Irun dep: 2220 - Night train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/irun-lisbon-th-313/73
Lisbon arr: 1031
And the proposal of NatureOne to spent the day in San Sebastian is very nice!
Then leave Bordeaux earlier:
Bordeaux dep: 0936 - free regional train
Hendaye arr: 1212
Hendaye dep: 1233 - Euskotren - EUR 1,70
San Sebastian arr: 1310
San Sebastian dep: 2239 - Night train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/irun-lisbon-th-313/73
Lisbon arr: 1031

Thanks Peter for even more information... It's funny, that I won't pay anything for almost 3 hours of travelling, but when it comes to those 6minutes in Spain, it costs 1,50€ :D

The reason is: the TER regional train from Bordeaux to Hendaye belongs to SNCF which is one of the railway companies where Interrail is valid.
Hendayeto Irun is by Euskotren, which does not belong to the railway companies where Interrail is valid. Therefore you have to pay for a normal ticket. But Euskotren is very cheap, especially if you see the price to San Sebastian. :)

I guessed it was that way, but I liked those price vs time differences :)

Hi.
Bordeaux st. Jean is the central railway station of the city.
Have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/bordeaux/bordeaux-saint-jean-railway-station/l1178
