In my 4 week trip around Europe my friends and I will be visiting mainly cities (amsterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Prague). But we will also be going to Switzerland and Croatia, which are countryside and coastal. I wondered if anyone would suggest taking camping gear with us for this part? Or will it be an unneccessary addition to carry a long? Thank you!!

Hi.
I personally think: it is a lot of weight you will carry around with you. If you have the money, think about staying in a private apartment (some camp sites are also offering ready to use tents) in Croatia/Switzerland and don't carry a tent with you, using only some nights, but having the weight with you for one month... :)
But it's your decision. I also spent several nights just in the nowhere without tent, only with a sleeping back. :)
