So, me and a couple of friends have this route more or less planned, it just needs a few fixes and I would like to get some help and opinion on this. We are leaving on the 14th of July and it will go around this:

London
Amsterdam
Berlin
Krakow/Warsaw
Budapest
Belgrade
Zagreb/Split
Ljubljana/Bled
Munich
Barcelona (through Paris)

We will be traveling with a 10 in 22 interrail pass we have already acquired and will only be using it from Amsterdam, since we have found a cheaper way to go from London to Amsterdam without using the interrail pass, the new Megabus international lines, which, just in case someone else needs it can take you there in around 12h (a lot compared to eurolines), but for only 15€ or so if you book it early enough.

Anyway, we would like to know how doable this is, in those cases where there is an option, which one you think would be the better option and also, I'd like to know if with the travel days we have and our route, we could add/replace some places with a beach. Not necessarily sea.

We saw a few images from Split but it is a bit out of route and we don't know if it's worth going from Zagreb there, having to come back to Zagreb to proceed with it. If there is any other beautiful beach more handy, it would welcome info.

Thanks a lot in advance ;)

We didn't, we thought it'd be better if we went to our local station, being so close to it and they could provide us with a little more information on it. Still, we are planning on making all train reservations we need through the site, since it really helped us a lot so far.

Don't get us wrong on this, we really appreciate the help and will contribute in the future, just not yet, so if you could give us any tips, it would be nice. It's ok anyway, I guess :)

Megabus is from 1gbp-up till yesterday it was impossible to even see the site quoting €€€. But those cheap seats are all gone. To compete, EUROLines now also has many more cheap seats-lands you in a more friendly./usable place in AMS-AmstelSTATIon and not that camping Zeeburg. MB also runs LON-Paris and direct Paris-AMSterdam, via BRUssel.
The route you mention-I have now written this 123 times- is the ''just follow the crowd'' un-imaginative cheap beer+booze route, hence probably so popular for Brits, untill Beograd.
Thus the FAQs and sticky in top of the relavnt forum-parts show all you need to know-to reserve or not-and if yes, how to. of course it is do-able, and youre also making good use of a pass (many Brits seem to have no idea about what real trains here cost and buy passes for trips that may cost just half when paid on the spot)

I'm not asking about reservations. I asked if it was doable with that kind of pass, yes, but what I really wanted to know was if there were any beaches we could easily get to from that route, or minor changes we could do to get to some beaches. That was my main question and no answer so far.

Plus, I'm not British ;)

Hi,

honestly, I dont think you get more info at a CP office than you can find here on the website. Anyway, the forum is free of course and I'll try to help whenever I have time - however, if people dont buy here we have to make our living otherwise and cant answer 24/7 - especially if many questions already have been answered several times. ;)

Regarding online reservations - as we only get a comission for the sale (same as with IR tickets) we virtually earn very little through this.

Anyway, your route is pretty straightforward and you should find recommended routes for all legs here :arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

I would swap Krakow and Warsaw and go to Warsaw first from Berlin as there are more frequent and faster connections. Then to Krakow and with the night train to Budapest.

If you head to Split, you could consider go Belgrade - Sarajevo - Mostar - Ploce - Split although this would require more time. Its probably faster to go via Zagreb - and you could use a night train on the Zagreb - Split route.

You could also go Zagreb - Rijeka, go to a beach in that area (Rijeka itself isnt that nice) then go Rijeka - Ljubljana. Or go to Koper from Ljubljana and then by bus to the Piran area.

Munich - Paris...the direct TGV/ICE services from Germany to France are rather expensive with a 13€ reservation. You could go to Strasbourg first with regular trains and then use a domestic TGV to pay 6€ only. Or use the night train, which is more expensive but you wont have to pay for a hostel of course then.

Paris - Barcelona I would recommend to travel overnight and include the Petit Train Jaune the following morning.
