Hi!

We are going with the Interrailcard next summer and thought about going with the Glacier Express in Switserland. Before we want to stay a few days in Interlaken for some hiking etc. and afterwards it is Milan we want to see.

But I´ve had some trouble finding trains from either Davos or St. Moritz (where the Glacier Express stops) to Milan. Has anyone done this route? :D

Hi.
Still a long time to plan your trip! :)

Don't use special tourist trains, you can travel by standard local trains. No need to pay extra!

St.Moritz - Tirano: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/st-moritz-to-tirano

Tirano - Milan by Trenord (they accept Interrail - but not official confirmed - only by travellers who reported not having problems.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/tirano-to-milan

Here some more information...
From Zurich to Milan FREE of extra fees for Interrailers: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zurich-to-milan

Travel route via Brig, Andermatt, etc to Milan:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zurich-to-disentis-muster

And if you like railcc and all the information, support it and buy your official Interrail Pass in our partner. Thank you! :)

Hej,

from Interlaken just go to Spiez, some 20 minutes away, to catch a train to Brig, as described in one of Peter's links.

As Peter I would recommend not to go with Glacier Express itself but instead with regular regional trains that run the same way. That way you save on reservation costs for the Glacier Express and can open the windows and look out. Of course, the panoramic cars of Glacier Express are nice and you dont have to change, which is comfortable too - but it is up to you to decide. ;)

Anyway, Interlaken - Milano is a long trip which will take almost 14 hours; for instance there is a connection leaving Interlaken at 0800, arriving in Milano at 2140. This would go via Spiez - Brig - Andermatt - Disentis - Reichenau-Tamnis - Samedan - Pontresina - Tirano.
Mind that you have to get an extra ticket (50% reduction with IR Youth Pass) for the stretch that is operated by MGB: Brig - Andermatt - Disentis!

A nice alternative route would be Interlaken - Luzern - Göschenen - Andermatt and than the same route as above.

Since it is a rather long trip, I would recommend to make an overnight stop along the route, for instance in Pontresina or at Ospizio Bernina:

If you have more questions about this just ask! :)
