Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me because I'm getting so confused!

I'm going interrailing this summer and need to book the following night-trains

Amsterdam-Prague (Monday 20th of August)

Vienna- Florence (Monday 27th of August)

Milan- Paris (Tuesday 4th of September)

All over railccs (which has been such a great help!) it says you have to prebook but I can't work out how to do it! There isn't an option in the railccs shop, bahn doesn't let me as my options aren't with germany and all of the websites I've tried don't offer an interrail discount.

In some places it says that you don't need to book but I think this would make me nervous and I'd rather know I have a seat. In oter places it says you book them at a train station in Europe but what if they've sold out by then? In other places it says to phone ahead but who do I phone?

I'm sorry for so many questions! I'm a bit worried about getting lost. :|

Thank you in advance!!!

Ally

Hi Ally.
The best is always to make bookings at railway stations (not possible in the UK).

Amsterdam - Prague: it is an CNL night train. If you want to book online, either departure or arrival station has to be in Germany: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-prague-cnl457/15

Options for you:
- enter the train in Amsterdam with a reservation for Duisburg (first stop in Germany) to Prague and explain it to the train staff. They usually should understand and accept it, as the price is the same for Interrailers, doesn't matters where you enter the train.
- or by free ICE train to Cologne, stay some hours in the city at the river Rhine and enter the night train there.
- or buy a reservation Amsterdam to Dresden (last stop in Germany) and leave the train there, visit the town and continue by free and frequent train to Prague.

The way how to reserver is explained under the map in the link above.

Vienna - Florence: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/vienna-rome-en-235/92
Either buy it somewhere at your stops before.
Or try like mentioned here bellow the map: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/venice-vienna-en-236/97

Milan - Paris: the direct night train is NOT included in Interrail! You will have to buy a normal ticket or use an other connection: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-paris

And finally: if you like railcc, support it (all the information, the forum, this answer, ...) and buy your official Interrail Pass here [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]

Thank you, Peter :)

Vienna - Florence has to be bought at a station, ÖBB does not sell IR reservations online and the Trenitalia option wont work since you'd have to pick up the reservations at a station in Italy.
