Hi All,

I'm looking at taking a trip round europe using night trains and can't work out whether it would be cheaper to get a global pass and reservations or book the trains separately. Could someone help me with this?

The route is as follows:
Amsterdam-Berlin
Berlin-Vienna
Vienna-Venice
Venice-Munich
Munich-Amsterdam.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have a Look at https://rail.cc/de/interrail-nachtzug or sleeper.demozoo.org

Hi.
Take care at the second link (demozoo) as it seems not to be up to date, at least the connections I saw - and it doesn't show the reservation fees for Interrailers.

If you want to find out the prices for reservations when using a rail pass, check the following links.

Amsterdam-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-prague-cnl457/15

Berlin-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/berlin-vienna-en-40477/46

Vienna-Venice: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/vienna-venice-en-237/96

Venice-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/venice-munich-cnl40236/36

Munich-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-ulm-stuttgart-amsterdam/cnl-418-pollux/12

To compare these reservation fees with Interrail ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass ), have a look on the websites of Deutsche Bahn ( [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] ) , ÖBB (oebb.at) and Trenitalia (trenitalia.it).

Using Interrail, you can make use of the 1900h-rule: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Peter :)

I did Amsterdam - Berlin - Vienna - Rome (but went outside of Venice) last year, and got individual seat tickets for about 25EUR per leg, though please be warned, the Amsterdam-Berlin sleeper arrives into Berlin at something like 4am!

Effectively, I went from Brussels to Rome (I started my trip in Brussels) for 100EUR, but then, I had the trip planned at LEAST 2 months in advance. I'd book on each companies sites (e.g. Amsterdam-Berlin on the Dutch railways site) - however, I did have problems booking the Berlin - Vienna ticket online, and had to call Deutsche Bahn and do it over the phone!

Good luck!
