Dear Flow, I am Harsha from Bangalore, India. I find that your replies are really useful and informative.
I want to travel to Switzerland with my wife for 4 days (August 2nd week 2012). I plan to cover the following.

Zurich, Lugano, Titlis, Interlaken, Lucern and schaffhausen and the golden pass.

If you could answer my questions, that will help me a lot.
1. Is this too much to do in 4 days? If yes, pls suggest what I can drop.
2. What travel plan you suggest to me?
3. Should I buy the swiss pass ([ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/switzerland[/ux]) ? I am worried about buying swiss pass and not getting reservations, becuase I need to spend around 420 SFs for 2 passes.

Thanks in advance
Harsha

Hej Harsha,

sorry for the late reply. So, are you travelling in Switzerland only or do you want to visit other countries too?

Your plan might be a bit crowded but it should be possible - if you are OK that you wont have much time in each place.

Day 1) Zürich - Schaffhausen, in the evening to Lugano, stay overnight
Day 2) Lugano - Luzern, stay overnight
Day 3) Luzern - Engelberg/Titlis - Interlaken, stay overnight (Luzern - Interlaken is the first half of the Golden Pass route)
Day 4) Interlaken - Montreux (Golden Pass) - Zürich

This would be a possible route.

You do not need any reservations on that route. Of course, if you want too, you can get some but in Switzerland usually only tourists make reservations. ;)
The only route where it would make a little sense to reserve would be the Golden Pass on the Zweisimmen - Montreux leg. But since you would go there on day 4 it should not be a problem to make these on day 1.
