Hi, I'm going to make a interrail with more 4 friend, but we are having a little bit difficult to understand which is the best option to get to SPLIT from MILAN with the interrail Pass.

We arrive to milan in 1 August.

I'm a little confused beacause I saw a lot of train changes and inclusive bus to cross borders ( to get to liubliana ? ) .

PS : The point to go to Split is to visit the island Hvar.

Soory for my Bad english but it's not my native language.

Hi.
If you want to travel by train do it in theses steps:

1 - Milan to Venice (possible by free trains): https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-venice

2 - Venice to Ljubljana (border crossing by bus, the only solution): https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/

3 - Ljubljana to Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/ljubljana-to-zagreb

4 - Zagreb to Split, a nice option is the night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zagreb-to-split

If you want to have a stop in between, think about Lake Bled in Slovenia (including as well a scenic railway journey from the Italian border to the lake).

Other option is to include a ferry.

Either by direct Frecciabianca (reservation fee EUR 10) or cheaper Regional+IC trains (change in Bologna) to Ancona. From there by ferry.
This should be the more relaxing route. :)
