Hi everybody,

I am planning to take an Interrail tour with my girlfrend somewhere in the mid august, and our budget is limited to somewhere around 600 euros each. I am from Serbia, and i was planning to start a trip with the low cost flight to Rome, where we would be staying for 3 days. As our further destination i was thinking of Barcelona, but, due to our budget, even the first destination can be changed if i find a cheaper way to provide an interesting route.
First of all i was thinking about Moscow and got disappointed when found out that Russia is not included in the Interrail list of countries. Then i was thinking about Lisbon, Barcelona, Rome, Kiev and Warsaw.
I would be highly grateful if you suggested a route (and any other advice if possible) which covers at least most of this Cities, and it is still cheap enough that i can afford it with my 5 in 10 days Interrail ticket and a moderate amount of money available.

Looking forward to your answer :)

Hi.
Italy, Spain and France are expensive Interrail countries. As there are several trains which require a reservation. Of course there are free slower trains available, but if you want to save money, maybe it is better to make a round trip like Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Rep., ...
And with a 5 in 10 you won't be able to travel Rome, Lisbon and Warsaw ... Kiev is not included!

So maybe Belgrade - Budapest: travel this ticket with a special price point to point ticket for EUR 15.
Budapest - Krakow - Prague - Berlin - (Munich) - Vienna back home...

Several options are available ...
Peter :)

It's a nice route, but we both have already been to most of these cities.
I would really appreciate if you could suggest some more routes.
EDIT: It's not a compulsory for us to take the fastest trains. We can save money in that way.
EDIT 2: We could exclude some cities, and leave, for example, Barcelona and Lisbon with some more, cheaper cities. Or we could forget about Spain and focus on the Warsaw-Something more-Rome-Budapest-Something more route. As i said, the route is pretty flexible. Also, i was thinking of possibility of using a night trains instead of the hostels for one or two nights. Possibility of reserving a cheap bed in a train once or twice, i don't know...I will be awaiting your suggestion :)

So, do you have anything more to say that might help?

Hi.
No, nothing to add. :)
It is too confusing on where you want to go or not. Where you want to start and end (flight or no flight), if you want to go only to the South-West or also to the East to save money... I don't want to be impolite, but it is difficult to give an answer.
Maybe just have a look on the google map and compare it to the schedules: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

OK, i've looked up a bit and i ll try to be more specific.
I have 2 options:
1) I could go by Wizz Air low cost company from Belgrade to Rome(even though i've never used one by now and i am not sure about possible taxes and fees i should be aware of, so i dont really know how cheap it would be), and then, after 3 days in Rome, start my 5 in 10 Interrail on a route Barcelona/Bern(with some scenic view on a trip if possible)/Warsaw/Budapest and then back to Belgrade. Or i could
2) Forget about a flight and go on this same or similar (i could write off one of the cities if necessary) route completely by train in which case i would be staying in Budapest for the first 3 days before starting my Interrail.
Which option would you prefer, and how do you think i should do it?
Also, i am thinking of a way of returning home after a trip, though interrail doesnt work in the country of residence. Is it possible to by a train ticket from the (for example) Hungarian-Serbian border or i have to pay the full fare?

Greatings :)

Edit: My departure should be somewhere around 15th of august.
Also, i dont see neither one connection from Barcelona to Bern.

Hi.
I would not get a plane from Belgrade to Rome. Better extend your ticket from the 5 in 10 to the 10 in 22 Interrail Global Pass.
There are special offers available for Budapest to Belgrade for EUR 15. Check the website of Hungarian railway company mav-start.hu or also the Serbian one.

Concerning your route, have a look at the Interrail schedules here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And general schedules here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Then you can find out what is possible and what not.

If you travel Italy to Switzerland, I definitely recommend this route from Milano trough the Alps:

I am looking the train connections these days and its unusual to me that there is only Florence - Bern conection...I haven't even found a regional from Zurich. Why is it so? Is it complicated going to Bern?

Also, (can't help it, am an amateur), does going to Switzerland require an additional document of some sort?

Sorry for being a noob, but i don't really have another place to ask these questions.
I have some more routes on which i would like to inform, but it will wait until i came up with the final traveling plan.

Thanks a lot :)

Hi.
What exactly you are looking for? Zurich to Bern?
There are trains running at least every 20 minutes - usually even more frequent. All free to use as Interrailer.
