Hey,
my friend and I are setting off for Europe in 2 weeks ish and we still haven't definitively established how to make reservations and how much they are.

We gather that different trains are run by different companies so dictate varying prices - So we have a few questions.

1) Is it okay to book on the day, for instance we are doing a lot of Eastern Europe; we are worried about a potential language barrier preventing us from doing this. Or their not being staff available.
2) Is there a site that prevents you having to go onto individual train companies websites and booking them through that method?
3) We believe (unless we've got it wrong) that one of the overnight train reservations will amount to in excess of 45 euros each.. Is this likely to be correct?
4) Is it quick and easy just to book on the day? Our strategy throughout has been to plan every detail so we could just enjoy ourselves

If you can answer any of the prior it would be greatly appreciated! Also if you had any additional information or tips for two interrail virgins (take that how you wish)

Cheers guys!

Hi.

1) Big railway stations in Eastern Europe are like in Western Europe. You will find ticket windows and staff. A lot of them speak English, if not, write down on a paper departure and arrival station, date, time. They are used to tourists not speaking their language.

2) There are some agencies doing everything for you. But you have to pay extra for this service. I do not recommend it, buy it either online (if available) or at a railway station during your trip (not possible in the UK).

3) Which connection ? All prices for Interrail travellers concerning night trains are listed here on railcc: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

4) You have to find your personal mix between a planed route and keeping your flexibility and freedom. I personally prefer freedom and only book night trains in advance if I know the exact travel date.

5) And if you like railcc, support us and buy your official Interrail pass in our partner (see blue bar bellow) - free delivery to the UK. Thank you. :)

Peter :)
