Hi,

We leave in two weeks to start our trip and I was trying to finalise the reservations that are going to be necessary with our interrail tickets. I've managed to purchase the reservations required for Paris - Lille TGV as I was told this would be required. The only other part of our journey we'll need reservations for that I can see from RD schedules is Munich to Florence. From what I gather this is only possible through the Munich-Rome connection. On xx it only gives the option of a night train, which is unsuitable for us. On the DB site it gives the option of a day time train but no option (that I can see) to just purchase a reservation. Can anyone give me any help with this? The rest of our connections are cheap/free regional trains so I just want to get this dilemma out of the way before we go!

Thanks!

Hi.
If you want to travel by day train (for example the following connection) you will need the supplements mentioned bellow:

München Hbf dep: 0931 - EC train - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/db-%C3%B6bb-eurocity/%C3%B6bb-db-%C3%B6bb-ec/32
No worries, no need to book this one in advance.
Bologna Centrale arr: 1620

Here you can change to a regional train to avoid the 10 EUR for the direct high speed train. A bit slower, but you save EUR 10.

Bologna Centrale dep: 1710 - regional train - free
Prato Centrale arr: 1820

Prato Centrale dep: 1842 - regional train . free
Firenze S.M.N. arr: 1913

And I removed the website mentioned by you above. The railccs don't really like them for several reasons. :|
If you want to travel by night train (details and booking information: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-rome-cnl-485/35 ), book it via DB not via this company!

Finally ... if you like railcc, support it an buy your official Interrail Pass in our partner - free delivery to the UK. Thank you, Peter :)

Hi Peter,

No problem,I have the interrail passes from the Rail Dude shop already so all is well! If the supplement doesn't need to be booked in advance will we just purchase it at Munich station on day of travel to Bologna? Woah, that's a lot of traveling, thinking about stopping in Bologna for a night now between Munich and Florence, though I think the recent earthquake may affect that.. :|

Thanks again for this help!

Hej,

the supplement for the München - Italy EC services via Innsbruck is payable on the train! I have never travelled on this route with IR but maybe you are lucky and the conductor forgets to charge you the supplement. :)

Hey,

Oh thats good then thanks for the info, were still chopping and changing the route so hopefully we get lucky on some other trains too ! haha 8) . I take it that this means when it's stated that IR is subject to a supplement, that supplement is payable on the train every time?

Thanks for the help!!

Hi,

be careful! Most trains require a reservation or a reservation with supplement which are payable before boarding! These connections are an exception...if you are in doubt, better ask here. :)
