Hi
I've planned my route for June this year and was about to book my Interrail ticket (10 in 22) for the following route but I have also read that people taking similar routes have just bought tickets at stations on the way and it works out cheaper? Could an expert please let me know what they think of this, thanks :|
Berlin - Prague (via Dresden)
Prague - Vienna
Vienna - Bratislava
Bratislava - Budapest
Budapest - Sarajevo
Sarajevo - Ploce (via Mostar)
Croatia (exact places tbc) to Slovenia
Slovenia - Munich
Is it worth the Interail ticket bearing in mind I'll probably need to use the buses in Croatia?
Thanks
Peter

Hi.
Mmmh... difficult to say what's cheaper as you can do nearly the full route by train without extra reservation fees. You would only have to pay the Interrail pass.
Only in Croatia you will have to use a bus for example from Ploce to Split where you could continue by train - or if you want to go to other places along the coast. But it isn't really expensive.
On the main routes Berlin to Prague or back to Munich you might get special price tickets. But you have to book early in advance and you are fixed on trains and times. I personally would go for an Interrail pass. :)
Have a look at the schedules, all are listed here:

Oh. I just saw you will need an Adult pass... then you should recalculate it...
For the connections from and to Germany try [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
The Czech railway also has an online shop, the same for the Austrian one.
