The ferries that go from Turku-Stockholm have the two options, day and night. Which should be selected? The night is more expensive, but I arrive in the morning and could move forwards the same day, the day is cheaper, but I would have to spend a night in Stockholm.

Also, how about the return? Should I reserve the return also? Seems impossible to me to have such accuracy.

Hi.
I personally prefer the overnight ferry ... as like you said, you can continue in the morning.
Think about getting a special fare booking in advance if possible...

in the distant past I never reserved-just did that on check-in. But maybe it has changed.
NOte: you are high north up there-that means very short nights-its dusky-not really dark, in high summer from midnite till about 4.00-the rest is daylight! 1 ferry goes east-day and returns west-night, nr 2 reverse. In STO you have to use the metro+shuttle bus to quayside (not incl. in IR). The daytime ferries connect into the Aland isles-sometimes witha smaller shuttleboat.
These ferries are very comfy-the resting seats are free -grab them first thing!- but many roll out their sleepingsack in that room. they also do a very big and fairly cheap buffet breakfast. All together a better buy as most nighttrains if travelling on IR.

Even the prices for the 2-3 person huts are pretty good. If I recall correctly, €7,- for an overnight hut. Included: bed, shower.
I'd advise to take the overnight, the sunset is pretty awesome in Turku (as in Stockholm), and the first couple of hours throughout the archipelago are still pretty nice. Breakfast is kinda cheap, but you'll arrive quite early in the morning in Stockholm.
