Hi,

We have planned to go interrailing, and have tried to start booking train tickets, but are a process a little difficult. It appears to be done via email or telephone, but it didn't make clear how much the trains will be. How do you recommend we bet go about it? Of particular interest is the overnight train from Budapest - Split. Considering we will be travelling in June/July should we book trains in advance?

Thanks for all your help,

Georgina

Hej Georgina,

there is a direct Budapest - Split night train in summer running only twice a week. Being mainly aimed at Hungarian travellers it is likely to be fully booked quite early. However, there is an alternative connection with a change in Zagreb available which runs daily: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/budapest-to-split

Regarding reservations, the standard procedure is do get reservations directly at a railway station. On mainland Europe it is usually possible to also get reservations at least for neighboring countries, if not also for most of Europe. All other sales channels, as online or via phone are usually a bit more complicated. Depending on your route, I'd recommend to just book your reservations at a station. If you want to do it beforehand, have a look at our online shop for reservations.
