Hi there fellow travellers I will be travelling for 2 months on the 26th of September to the following countries Flying into Germany Frankfurt International to meet up with a friend thats flying from america. How much does the train cost to get from the airport to (Central station franfurts main station) as i dont really want to use my pass until im leaving there to go to Munich for Octoberfest. In regards to Octoberfest im finding it hard to get accomodation as many of the hostels ive tried have already been taken up or can only accommodate us for one night, but require a min stay of 2 nights any suggestions ? from there we plan to go to Prague, Vienna , slovenia, croatia,Naples, rome, venice, marselle, lyon, paris, where depending on funds/days left fly home or on to amsterdam where then i book a flight home.
In regards to Italy I know is quite expensive and it is later on in my journey what are the cheaper cites for accommodation. and from reading this site its not as easy to travel round italy for pass holders.
Break down of my thinking of rough Itinerary
sept 26th Frankfurt 3 nights
29th - Travel to munich 4 nights
Oct 3rd Travel to Prague 3nights
6th Travel to Austria 4 nights
10th Travel to Slovenia 2 nights
12th Travel to Croatia 3 nights
15th Travel to Italy by boat if poss to eastcoast if not still going there but traveling back up croatia into venice depends how long that takes
17th 2 nights in Venice
19th 2 nights in rome
21st Travel to the south of france 5 nights
25th Travel to Lyon 3 nights
28th travel to Luxuberg 2 nights
30th Travel to Paris 3 nights fly home
2nd of Nov travel to amsterdam 4nights (optional)
7th fly home to UK
I am flexible apart from the start of my Journey is this kind of schedule achievable for a first time Inter-ralier using a pass I was thinking two 22 day flexi passes or would two 22 day continous passes be better looking at my Itinerary.
Many Thanks in advance
all help and advice is welcomed and apprieciated I look foward to your feedback.

Hi.
Just a short reply.
Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt central station (Hauptbahnhof) is EUR 4,10 per adult.
Use the S-Bahn running every 15 minutes. Journey time is usually 11 minutes.
Don't use IC or ICE trains (more expensive).
Oktoberfest: it is hard to get accommodation in Munich during Oktoberfest. And it is expensive.
You could think about staying in an other city around Munich and got to Munich in the morning, turn back in the evening as Oktoberfest closes at 22:00h.
If you don't want to spent travel days, use for example a Bayern-Ticket. Available for local/regional trains inside Bavaria. Up to 5 persons for EUR 29, valid for one day until 03:00h in the morning of the next day. No need to prebook it, simply buy it at a ticket machine of Deutsche Bahn at a railway station.
Cities arround could be Nueremberg (from where you also can get to Prage easily), Augsburg, Regensburg, ... just check it. Maybe a cheap hotel is a solution?!
For train connection for your trip trough Europe have a look here, as for example in Italy you can save money avoiding the high-speed-trains: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Thanks Peter for your suggestions. There is a lot of info out there and sometimes my head gets overloaded with information thanks for lifting the clouds and and helping me see clearler now. ill look into the surrounding cities in munich Just a quick question about accomodation in general is there a way to search where a International Youth Hostel Card is not needed or would you say they paid for themselves and it gives you more options Thanks again.

Hi.
I recommend a booking website like [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
The typical Youth Hostel where you need the special youth hostel card are usually very nice and well renovated. But more into families and school groups (at least in Germany). If you are an individual traveler (and prefer going out at night, meet other international backpackers), go for the private hostels and use the link above.

Hi.
Sorry for the late reply, just turned back from the Interrail Event 2012 in Budapest.
There are different tickets available - but note: only available for local/regional trains. You can NOT use IC or ICE trains!!!
Give me the exact route and the date you want to travel and I will show you the right ticket.
Bayern Ticket is only available for Bayern, not for the Frankfurt area. There is as well the Schönes Wochenend Ticket valid for the whole Germany, but only on weekends. During the week it is called Quer durchs Land Ticket.
Sounds difficult, but it is easy. I only need the exact dates.

Hi Peter,
First off I hope you had a great time in Budapest, I would be traveling on Saturday the 29th of September from Franfurt Central train station going to Munich I also am not using a Interail ticket for this part of my adventure if this makes a difference. I see that you dont recomend IC or ICE trains what trains would I go for and where will the info be so when im at the train station I dont acciendiently get on and IC or ICE train will it be clearly displayed on the information boards what kind of train it is at the station ?
Thanks again.

Hi.
In this case a Special fare ticket makes sense.
No need to buy a ticket mentioned above (Bayern-Ticket, Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, etc).
Buy as fast as possible (because as earlier you order, as cheaper the tickets are) a special price here: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
All special prices are listed there, you won't get it cheaper anywhere else. :)
The cheapest option which is still available was right now for EUR 39. In average it is EUR 59.
It will be an e-ticket which you simply print out at home.
Have a nice time in Munich ... and if you have the time, visit Budapest as well one day. Definitely worth!

Once im in Munich ill be fine as im meeting a friend there its just getting from Franfurt Central Train station to Munich im worried about as it my first time

special price:
- price per person
- you are fixed on a train (date and time)
- journey time: ~ 3:15h
- available from EUR 39
Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket:
- up to 5 travellers
- EUR 40
- you are flexible on a Saturday or Sunday
- you can only use local trains
- journey time: 5:30 - 6 hours
You have to watch the information at the platforms or search for a connection before at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
Select the option only local transport.

Hi,
there are big blue screens everywhere (on the platforms, hall, etc) which indicate departure time, platform, destination and type of train. Also, IC/EC/ICE trains are white with red stripe and RE/RB/S-Bahn services are red with white stripe, very easy to distinguish. ;)
You can of course also ask staff at the station, they will help you.
