Hey guys, currently trying to plan a route for the following places, and it's a bit of a logistical nightmare, so thought I'd post here and see if anyone more experienced could lend some pointers!
Dubrovnik - Zagreb - Sarajevo - Belgrade - Budapest - Vienna - Prague - Berlin
So, I've got a basic route planned out but does anyone have help with trains/preferred routes. The route isn't set in stone, so if some changes in the order is required that's fine! Looking at a total travel time of 18 days.

Hi.
You have several options.
First step is to leave Dubrovnik by bus as there is no railway station.

Dubrovnik - Bar (Montenegro): by bus
Bar - Belgrade: day train, an amazing route, photos made by Flow at the free day train connection: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bar-to-belgrade
Belgrade - Sarajevo: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/belgrade-to-sarajevo
Sarajevo - Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/sarajevo-to-zagreb
Zagreb - Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zagreb-to-budapest
The rest is easy. Have a look here for schedules, everything is possible by trains free of extra fees:

Budapest - Vienna
Vienna - Prague
Prague - Berlin

Dubrovnik - (bus) - Ploce - Sarajevo - Zagreb - Belgrade - Budapest ...
3
Dubrovnik - (bus) - Split - Zagreb - Sarajevo - Belgrade - Budapest ...
But I personally would go for version 1.

Awesome, thanks. Any tips from getting to Paris to Dubrovnik via train? Had a quick look but there's nothing direct, would need Paris --> X, X ---> Bar?

Bar is only accessible by train from Belgrade. So you could travel Paris - Munich - Budapest - Belgrade - Bar.
Or if you want to go to Split: Paris - Munich - Zagreb - Split.
All connections available via the schedules (link see post above).

Thanks for the help!
Decided to bite the bullet and just fly London -> Dubrovnik rather than bus it from London to Paris (£5) then spend almost 2 days travelling to Dubrovnik, more expensive but far easier as we're meeting some other people in Dubrovnik on a certain date, then others in Zagreb a few days after so were kinda constrained to the original route.
Managed to find trains for the route, with a nice mix of night trains.

Even I prefer rail travel, it is sometimes easier by plane, like in your case now to Dubrovnik. ;)
In deed, on this route there are several night train worth using.
And finally, if you like railcc, support it and buy your official Interrail passes here on the recommended website. Free delivery to the UK! :) Thank you!
