Hi,

We are looking to travel from St Malo to Benicassim, via Barcelona. I have been looking at connections between St Malo and Paris and the supplement on them is E6 on railcc, but only E1.50 on voyages-sncf.com. Why is there a difference in the price for what I assume is the same reservation (using abo forfait 2e). Again, the reservation from Paris to Portbou is only E1.50, cheaper than the railcc option. Am I missing something in my booking?

Once at Portbou, how often are the trains to barcelona and will it be easy to make a reservation once at the station? How often do trains go from barcelona to benicassim aswell?

Thanks for the help,

Sam :)

Hi Sam.
The EUR 1,50 you are talking about (abo forfait 2e) is NOT an official reservation for rail pass (Interrail and Eurail) travellers.
Often it is accepted by the train staff in TGV trains - but there is no guarantee for it!
Please read here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/tgv-sncf/42

The reservation you get on railcc is an official reservation for rail pass travellers. You can not buy this official reservation on the SNCF site!

For PB-Barca: regional trenes run about ev 1 or 2 hrs-unreserved (the same as your local ex BR-stand if all full, but this is the starting point anyway).
these local=rodalies trenes are NOT on [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] or the sites linked via this. You can find them via renfe.es then find cercanias/rodalies, region-and look further, it is just PDF of the leaflets.

Hi,

Thanks for all your help, really made it easier to make my decision. After looking a bit more at the options, I think this is the option I want to take. https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-barcelona .. can I reserve the Paris-Latour de Carol leg of the trip on railcc? Also does the Latour de Carol - Barcelona run on sundays?

Much appreciated

Hi Sam.
The route Paris - Latour de Carol to Barcelona is nice.
But as you travel this way, think about including the Little Yellow Train. It is amazing.
So Paris - Perpignan by night train - then Perpignan Latour de Carol by Little Yellow Train - and then to Barcelona. But you decide of course. :)

For schedules check the date you want to travel here: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/barcelona/index.html
Select: La To de Querol-Enveig
And: Barcelona-Sants (or wherever you want to leave the train)
This train connection is free with rail pass!

The night train Paris to Latour de Carol or Perpignan is easy to get online at the website of SNCF (see information and link bellow the map): https://rail.cc/en/night-train/paris-latour-de-carol-icn-3971/76

Currently the French night trains in Southern France are often not available for prebooking long time in advance. They often will be announced at short notice.
