Hej,

this is indeed a rather long trip which I would at least split in two legs. Unfortunately there are no night trains on this route so you will have to stay at least one night somewhere at a hostel/campsite.

I would recommend to travel as far as possible on the first day, at least until Milano. You could even go to Torino, spend the night there and travel the following day via Cuneo - Breil-sur-Roya through the Maritime Alps to Nice, then continue along the Cote d'Azur to Marseille. However, if you have enough time, I would think about staying overnight in Nice as well, if you want to spend some time in the cities too.

Or, a completely different approach, take the night train from Lesce Bled to Zürich, then travel the next day via Geneve - Lyon - Avignon to Marseille. If you want to save money this is a good option since you would only need a reservation for the night train (starting at ~3,50€ for a regular seat) if you travel with regional trains in France, then you would arrive in Marseille late evening.
