Is this at all possible in say, a 2 week time period? I'd love to see Berlin but it might be too far away for me to get there in this time. I'm a bit wary of night trains since it's going to be my first trip like this!
Basically I had a rough route of: Rome -> (Florence if there's time) -> Venice -> Salzburg -> Munich (or Prague) -> Berlin
I just really would love some advice and tips please! I'm definitely open to suggestions of places to see without going quite as far too. I was interested in somehow going Italy to Barcelona, but this also looks like it would take just as long! I'm just trying to find a way to minimise the long travel times (like 6 hours Venice to ANYWHERE it seems, haha), whilst still having a decent amount of time in each place. I don't know if I'm being too ambitous and trying to fit too much in.
I'm also having a bit of trouble because I don't know which airlines would fly in to Rome from say Liverpool/Manchester on a budget.

Thankyouuuu! :D

Hi.
This trip is fine for a 5 days in 10 Interrail Pass.
Stay some days in Rome, then start interrailing.
Schedules are here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

A nice route is: Rome - Venice - Salzburg - Munich - Prague - Berlin

Except Rome - Venice (EUR 10 if you want to travel high speed) and Venice - Salzburg (depends of the connection), you won't have to pay any extra fees.

Hi! We've decided we're going to try and do: Berlin - Prague - Salzburg - Venice - Florence - Rome, with a possible couple of hours stop over to break up the Salzburg - Venice journey in Villach. I'm looking at trains on this website: ÖBB - https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
For Prague to Salzburg on the 9th July, in the morning. It seems like loads of the routes require you to go by bus! Is this included in the interrail pass? Is there a better way to do the journey? How do we book our tickets and reserve places? I'm confused!!!!

Hi.
Which bus you are talking about. The IC-Bus Prague to Munich? https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/intercity-bus-prag/209
As for this bus you have to pay extra - see link above.

A connection without extra fees:
Praha hl.n. dep: 0716 - free Regional train
Linz Hbf arr: 1215
Linz Hbf dep: 1232 - free ÖBB-IC
Salzburg Hbf arr: 1349

If you travel by Interrail, you don't need to buy extra tickets. Only extra reservations if required. Those reservations are listed here on railcc: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
Also all connections we list here, are show with these extra fees and we always offer free alternative routes. If you use the schedule planer you mentioned, then you have to check it by yourself with the list above.

Thankyou!!! You guys are so helpful here :D I can't wait to get going.
I think I can avoid compulsory reservations on every train but the high speed Italian ones (probably worth the money to save on time, given we're only going for 2 weeks). If the website says a route doesn't need a reservation, and we're going early to mid July (probably it would be around 12th July when we reach Italy), so almost peak summer, would you say its a very risky tactic to not make reservations for these trains and see if we can get away without paying extra? For example the Prague to Salzberg route I think can be done without a reservation on certain trains.. but will it fill up quickly? Also, is there any extra fee to be paid, other than the reservation, in any case?

Thanks so much!

Also, one more question. If I travel Salzburg to Villach in the day time, and then board another train from midnight to 3am, does that count as 2 travel days?

Hi.
Don't make a reservation for Prague to Salzburg. You will always find a seat. Trains are not airplanes. :)
And in Italy: yes, you will save on a lot of routes time using and paying the high speed trains.
If you travel with Interrail, only some trains requires a reservation like mentioned at the link. And of course night trains - as, let's say, they replace the bed in a hostel. ;)
There is a direct night train Salzburg to Venice.
But if you want to stay in Villach, it will be TWO travel days the way you told you want to travel.
Think about a option like this (nice route): Salzburg to Villach, then Slovenia. Stay at Lake Bled, then continue to Venice:
https://rail.cc/en/train/salzburg-to-venice
This is an example route, there are also later connections if you want to end up in Bled for the night.

Thanks!!! :)
Is there anywhere I can find a definitive source of which trains I will need reservations for? Different sites say different things, and seem to give different reservation prices also!

You can trust the information here on railcc. We do this job since more than 15 years. And we are not just a train ticket outlet like some other websites - we travel ourself and collect the information during our travels!

:arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

Which connection are you talking about?
