Hi,
I am going on a stag do to Amsterdam 4th-7th May, but have til the 18th off work, so decided to get a InterRail Pass to travel Europe.
My plan is to pay for the train to Brussels and stay for 2 nights, going to Brugges for a day in between.
Then I plan to get the night train to Zurich and a train to Lucerne, again for 2 nights.
I want to go to Venice, but I'm stuck whether to go to Budapest before hand (get the night train from Zurich) or go to Rome after Venice. (3 days in each)
If theres any other destination that I should visit, please let me know as this is my first time in Europe as an adult :/
Cheers.

Hej,
well not knowing what your preferences are (beach, city, culture, night life,...).
What night train are you planning to take to Zürich?
Given that you start in Bruxelles with a 5in10, you could make a trip like this:
Bruxelles - Zürich - Luzern
Luzern - Milano - Roma
Rome - Venezia
Venezia - Wien - Budapest (with Venezia - Wien night train)
Budapest - München - Amsterdam (with Budapest - München night train)
This would consume all five travel days, using the 1900 rule for night trains twice. You would need a 10€ reservation for both Milano - Roma and Roma - Venezia (if you want to travel fast, that is) as well for the both night trains.

Cheers Flo,
The main aim of the trip is just for a break from work and to do some sight seeing.
My plan was to pay for a return train from Amsterdam to Brussels and use the night train from Amsterdam > Zurich
Is it possible to use the 7pm rule on the last day of validity?
I.e it expires on the 17th - get the night train to end up in Amsterdam on the 18th?
With your trip including Rome, how many days do you think I should allocate to each place?
So far I've only booked a hostel in Brussels for 2 nights (to go Brugges for the day as well)
Thanks
Flo

Hej,
you can only make use of the 1900 rule within the period of validity of the InterRail pass.
Using the Amsterdam - Zürich CNL service therefore doesnt make much sense since if you would use the 1900 rule you would arrive in Zürich only on the second day of your IR pass. My idea was to take the Bruxelles - Zürich EC via Luxembourg and Strasbourg.
Umm...a possible trip could look like this:
1 Bruxelles - Luzern via Zürich
2 Luzern, possible day trip to Rigi, Pilatus or Aare gorge
3 Luzern - Roma via Milano; to avoid the 10€ reservation for the direct EC to Milano, go only to Chiasso (border station) and then use regional trains to get to Milano, from there with fast AV train (10€ reservation) to Roma
4 Roma
5 Roma
6 Roma - Venezia
7 Venezia and night train to Wien
8 Wien - Budapest
9 Budapest and night train to München
10 München - Amsterdam
