During the summer, I'm off to Portugal to do some interrailing and I have a vague plan:
Lisbon > Porto > Coimbra > Braga > Faro > Lagos > Lisbon
I'm looking at about 3 weeks there (see, it's not a gap year or anything, just something I fancy doing this summer). Are there any other cities I should visit while I'm there? Any sites in particular I should see? Is 3 weeks long enough for my (vague) plan?
Also, I've never travelled on my own before so hostel-wise, can you just turn up on the day, or should I join some association beforehand? And any advice on money-per-day? Obviously, it's going to vary from person to person but I'm just looking for any type of advice at all!
Thank you!

Hello,
I think ur plan is fine but i would do also Guimarães and Aveiro.
Guimarães is the crib of Portugal, it was the base of the foundation of Portugal and this year (2012) it is the European Capital of Culture. I think if u are going to Braga (20-30 km from guimaraes) u should go guimaraes. I don't know what you pretend to do in Braga because there isn't much to do there except to see the Bom Jesus and a few things. But by the way if u pretend go to Braga to go to Gerês - i think u should go.
Aveiro is the called The Portuguese Venice and i think it is worth to see it.
If you tell me how many days you pretend to stay in each city i can help you making a very good plan ;)

3 weeks is time enought. The cities are not big.
If you like beach you have from Lagos do Faro ando Faro till the boarder of Spain miles (kilometers) of beach.
Great beaches in fact.
Recomend in Aveiro try Soft Eggs ( Ovos Moles).
