Hello there,
I'm planning my trip to start in Hamburg and have been checking out hostels on hostelworld, but was just wondering if anyone has any advice on any good hostels there as I'd like to start off with a decent one and meet people.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Joseph.
Have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/hamburg/accommodation/c
The A&O is okay, but you won't meet people there.
Maybe have a look for one more inside of the city.
Peter :)

If you want to stay in a fancy hostel, the Superbude is the right choice for you. Both locations are really great, one is in St.Pauli, the other one in St.Georg, about 15 minutes from Hamburg Hbf..
If have been in the Superbude in St.Georg and it´s worth every cent. There are a lot of young people staying there, it has a good kitchen and offers breakfast
The rooms are furnished very individually, you will find something special in every room, e.g. chairs built out of beer crates.
You also have the possibilty to rent Longboards (2€ p.day) or beachcruiser-bikes (5€ p.day). The staff is very helpful and also mostly young people, so they know where and how to party ;)
The hostel is not that cheap though, but as i said, you won´t regret it afterwards.
Check their website: http://www.superbude.de/
