So, me and a couple of friends are going interrailing on the 4th of July - we've finally ordered our passes and booked all our accommodation en route!
The only thing we need to do now in terms of bookings is reservations - there are 2 night trains we want to catch (Paris-Berlin and Berlin-Vienna). We also need connections of Munich-Nice and Nice-Barcelona that I think include trains that need reservations.
I'm really unsure what website to use to book them. I really don't want to make a mistake! I know the summer timetable isn't out yet though, do I have to wait until the beginning of June to do my reservations?
Also, would it be a good idea to wait until we get to the train stations to make reservations? I'm scared the trains will be full at this time of year, especially the cheaper compartments on night trains. And since we're not doing a 'flexible' route - all of our accommodation is booked - we don't want to miss a train.
Thanks in advance
Charlotte

Hi Charlotte.
As your route is fixed on dates, book the reservations for the night trains as early as you can (usually available up to 3 months in advance).
For the both night trains you can order online. See information below the maps on the night train sites.
Paris - Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/paris-berlin-cnl451-455/18
Berlin - Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/berlin-budapest-en-477/53
Munich - Nice: I answered already your question in a post before - but long time ago. ;) Have a look here:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/munich-to-nice
The only reservation you will need for this connection is for the TGV. Available online here at railcc ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation ) or for example in Paris, when you start your trip.
Please give me the exact travel date for this trip - as in between Switzerland and France the departure times vary depending on the date.
Nice - Barcelona: depends on how fast you want to travel. But there is as well a free connection without the need of reservations. Otherwise, like above: on railcc or in Paris.
See here for details: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/nice-to-barcelona

Thank you for your response. But it's Berlin-Vienna, not Budapest :)
Does this mean those times are fixed and will not change? I thought the timetables changed at the beginning of June?
Yes you did - thank you! Again, I was double-checking that the times will not change.
We are also travelling from Munich to Nice on a Sunday. Will this affect trains at all or will it be fine?
Thanks again!

Hi.
Oh sorry. The Berlin-Budapest night train is the same like Berlin-Vienna (will be split up during the night to their final destination).
Just have a look at the Berlin-Vienna link: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/berlin-budapest-en-477/53
All night trains are listed here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
Then change in June is only a small one. International connections usually don't change - if they change, then only for some minutes.
If you book the night trains mentioned (see at the bottom of the night train sites for information on how to do), the times you get on your reservation are fixed - no changes anymore.
Munich - Nice: yes - you will have to leave Munich earlier on Sunday.

Train schedules without the help and information of railcc: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route
And let's hope you purchased your Interrail passes here at railcc to support the project, these answers and the schedules. Delivery to the UK is free: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you.

It depends on which connection you want to book.
Not all are available online.
Some you have to book step by step, train by train.
About what connection you are talking on which date? :)

Well I was looking at booking my 2 night train connections - Paris-Berlin and Berlin-Vienna.
I've found Paris-Berlin on [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] so that's not a problem but on both railcc and [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] it says Berlin-Vienna is unavailable to book online.
