Hi,
I have been trying to search for train times, etc, to get an idea of whether this itinerary is reasonable as I need to book hotels in advance during the New Year period. Can you please advise me the easiest way to search for a train timetable on this website, as I have been finding it a bit difficult. Perhaps I'm missing something!
My itinerary is:
Berlin - Nuremberg 1/1/2013
Nuremberg - Munich 2/1/2013
Munich - Innsbruck 5/1/2013
Innsbruck - Venice 6/1/2013
Venice - Florence 9/1/2013
Florence - Sorrento 11/1/2013
Sorrento - Rome 15/1/2013
I would like to know whether this itinerary is realistic - will I be able to catch a train at a reasonable time on those dates (given public holiday on 1/1). Also, I would like opinions on whether a Eurail pass is the way to go (I'm thinking 3 countries pass) or whether individual trips should be purchased.
Thanks, we are travelling from Australia as a family of 4 and this is our first time in Europe, so everything seems a bit foreign to me!! :os

Hej!
You can search for train timetables for almost whole of Europe on online schedule planners offered by some railways. Additionally we have listed certain routes which are frequently used by InterRailers directly here on railcc. These listed routes are either very scenic or show ways to save money on reservation costs.

Your route looks reasonable and there will be the regular service even though you are travelling on public holidays.
If you are willing to book tickets early (~ more than 1 month in advance) it can be cheaper than going by EuRail, if you want to stay flexible it will be better to go with EuRail. Note that EuRail is only available in 1st class, so if you are content with 2nd class accomodation it will be cheapest to go by advance booked tickets in 2nd class.
Best option with EuRail would be a 3 country pass with 6 travel days :arr: https://rail.cc/en/eurail-select-pass (update: only 4 country pass now available) plus a regular ticket for Nuremberg - Munich (on a regional train). You will need some additional reservations, for the domestic high speed trains in Italy (10€ reservation fee), so you would total at ~ 360€ per person (older than 11 years).
