Hey there, community!

As I live in Germany, going from Copenhagen to Amsterdam by train would cost me over 100€ (even with the 25% discount, 45€ to Hamburg and then 62€ to Hilversum). Can I possibly get there way, I mean waaay cheaper?

Thanks so much in advance

Victor

Hi Victor.
Sad situation for persons with country of residence. There is no way to go from Northern to Southern Europe trough Interrail countries without crossing Germany.

Option 1: Quer durchs Land Ticket by DB for EUR 42 (regional trains only). If you are a group of persons, this one is available for up to 5 persons in total (each 4 EUR extra).

Option 2: by Europa Spezial Preis of DB for the CNL night train. Available from EUR 29 (seat) or EUR 49 (couchette). At the same time you save the money for a hostel and you save one of your travel days if travelling on an Flexible Interrail Pass.
Night train: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/copenhagen-amsterdam-cnl-40473/13

Option 3: via the Baltic countries: https://rail.cc/blog/baltics-train-bus-ferry/

Thanks Peter!

Both very tempting options, especially the Quer Durchs Land Ticket as I'll probably be travelling with a friend. This would average to 33€ / person which is already way better. Then there would be no stay in Hamburg though, but that's fine. I can visit that later, I'm sure.

I think I will also use option 3 in reverse by going to Helsinki from Prague over Talinn (do you know whether I need a visum there?) and then to Stockholm - where I need to find my way to Amsterdam to continue to Paris over the UK.

Greetings from Munich

No ... no visa required for the Baltic countries...! :)

And for Amsterdam to the UK, check the ferry via Hoek van Holland:
https://rail.cc/en/hoek-van-holland/ferry/c

UK to Paris:
currently the best option either by overnight bus: using a ferry as well + saving the hostel = EUR 35
ferry Dover to Calais
Details here:

Peter :)

P.S.: by the way it is only 23 EUR per person using the Quer durchs Land... ;)
