If you get on a train from Bled to Rome do you have to pay two supplements. E.g the supplement from Bled to Villach, and then the second supplement from Villach to Rome?

Hi,
you dont need a supplement for any Lesce Bled - Villach train (if travelling in regular 2nd or 1st class accomodation, that is), only for the Villach - Roma night train.

Thank you very much, this has been incredibly helpful. To get back to Rome from Amsterdam would you recommend taking the 20 hour ( ish) journey from Rome to Amsterdam or stopping of in Munich on the way? Thanks again :)

Rome - Amsterdam is best done via Munich: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/rome-to-amsterdam
The alternative route via Switzerland requires using several trains with reservations or, alternatively, the use of slower connections without reservations but longer travel time.
If you have a lot of time, I would suggest to go Rome - Milano (either with a night train or with a fast AV train early in the morning) and then via the Bernina Pass route to Zürich for the CNL overnight train to Amsterdam

Hey sorry to drag this out but I saw on the home page that it is very hard to reach Rome by night train. Is it still possible to take the Bled-Rome night train?
:) Thanks very much, you've been extremely helpful

I assume you are talking about this news: Italy difficult to reach by night train.
Fortunately the night trains Vienna - Roma and Munich - Roma still run. :)

This information is up to date.

These are the only two remaining international night trains to Rome, yes.
There are some remaining domestic night trains as well.

Would you say the best way to get to Vienna would be to get a train from Bled to Ljibulana and then a direct train from there to Vienna? Or travel north to Villach and then go to Vienna from there?

Hi,
the more direct and faster way is via Villach. However, take care to get a train that runs to Villach Hauptbahnhof, not Westbahnhof! There are construction works currently which is why some trains do not call at Hauptbahnhof where the connections to Wien origin.
I would therefore recommend to depart at Lesce Bled at either 0813, 1212, 1552 or 1739.
