Hello :)
Me and two friends are planning on doing a month inter-rail this summer. there are so many places that we want to visit - both capital cities and places by the coast that this is the plan we currently have ( spending 2-3 nights in most places)

amsterdam-berlin-prague-krakow- budapest- zagreb-split-hvar-lake bled- ? - rome-pisa-nice

1) do you think we are trying to fit too much into the 30/31 days we have free to travel?
2) could anyone recommend somewhere to stop at between lake bled (slovenia) and rome? the journey seems like a horribly long one so if there is somewhere of interest to stop off at that would be nice, we did originally think venice but as we are trying to budget under £20 a night for hostels it just wasnt possible
3) also if anyone has any recommendations of hostels in any of these places apart from amsterdam let me know please :)

thank you
hannah :)

Hej Hannah,

1) I think that between 10 and 15 places for a month long trip is a good amount; in this way you make good use of the IR ticket, can visit many different places and wont get too exhausted by travelling itself ;)
2) Humm...I could think of several options:
a) Lake Bled to Villach and then with night train to Roma
b) Direct trip Lake Bled - Roma is possible, although there are quite good connections available
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/bled-to-rome
c) Stopovers along the route: In Trieste, Verona...in any case, the most difficult part is to cross the SI <> IT border. There are no trains at the moment, so the most common way to do so is the border crossing in Nova Gorica/Gorizia as described in the daytime connections Bled - Roma above. However, I prefer the option via Sezana: From Bled, go to Nova Gorica, then continue to Sezana, from there by bus across the border to Villa Opicina, then by tramway down to Trieste.
3) Berlin: Wombats; Nice: HI Hostel Mont Boron

if you plan ONLY these trips by train, then an IR-certainly the 30 days or so, is a waste of money. Book online via [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] fixed (assuming you can fix in) and most sectors cost only 29 eur or less.
But as already said-you can easilyu add more sights and places in-in that case it may make more sense.
