Hello,

This will be my first ever inter rail trip and i cannot wait, i leave on 2nd of may for 22 days and start in germany. My problem is that I do not know if I'm trying to do to much/ visit to many countries, I need to finish in Barcelona for Primavera Festival exactly 22 days later after i start, which means I have a long distance to travel. Im going to get the 10 days within 22 days rail pass. 3 weeks seems long enough ish......

Berlin-Prague-Budapest-Zagreb-Venice-Barcelona

Any views or anyone done something similar?

I don't want to wreck my travelling living on a train only if you know what i mean. I would really appreciate anyones help and input.

Hi Adam.
Some thoughts of me...
On the part Prague to Budapest, you could include Krakow.
in Croatia, think about going somewhere to the beach or Slovenia at Lake Bled.
Croatia/Slovenia to Italy: there are no direct trains, you have to change at the border. See here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/ljubljana-to-venice
In Italy think about stops for example in Rome, Florence, ...
Venice/Italy to Barcelona is a long trip.
You have these options:

A) the expensive but direct night train from Italy to Barcelona: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/milan-barcelona-en-11274/166
Here you could also exit in Perpignan at 0704 at the morning - see option (B).

B) Travelling along the French coast, step by step. With a stop around Nice and around Perpignan.
Then by Petit Train Jaune (Little Yellow Train) over the Pyrenees to Barcelona. Amazing!

C) From Rome to Italy by overnight ferry (see departure 1902):

I hope this will help you planing your trip. And if you want to support our work, buy your Interrail pass here on railcc. Thank you, Peter :)

Hi thanks for the help Peter, super helpful. Im going to buy my Interrail ticket on pay day in a week :)

I have been planning and have been struggling to find this night train from Milan to Barcelona, I have found one very similar which stops at Perpignan, where would I be best to book this train. Its the one stressful bit of my trip as I need to do it all in one day if possible. Also do I need my inter rail ticket/number to book this train?

thanks for the tip on lake bled, looks amazing cannot wait.

Thanks

Adam

Hi.
The night train from Milan to Barcelona stops in Perpignan:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/milan-barcelona-en-11274/166
There is no other night train, so both trains you are talking about are the same. :)

And this night train is very expensive! Don\'t be shocked! :\'(
Sometimes you can even get special fares which are cheaper than a rail pass reservation: elipsos.com

If you want to use an rail pass, book it like mentioned for this type of train. It is the same way (the alternative way via the Italian Trenitalia website) like for the night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/frecciargento/49

UPDATE: oh I just saw it is now possible to purchase the Interrail/Eurail Pass fares directly at the Elipsos website: elipsos.com
