Hello everybody,
New to the forum . I am planning to travel Europe this summer with some friends from university and we are opting for the 22 day InterRail pass. There are around ten of us that are wanting to go, however amongst us we have limited travel experience or knowledge so this trip will be a completely new thing to all of us. We are wanting to see as much as we can in these 22 days but we don't know whether we should plan an itinerary or just travel to places 'off the cuff' as we don't know what to expect and how long we should spend in each city. Another dilemma we have is that as students, we are pretty limited on budget therefore cheapest routes would be preferred. Also, I was told that travelling on night trains is a way of saving money, could anybody enlighten me on this? I was wondering if anybody has any advice on possible routes we could take and ways of saving money etc.
Many thanks,
Matt.

Hi.
Ten persons is a big group. Be prepared that you might split of for one or two days and then to continue together.
I would plan a rough itinerary - and to save money, go to Eastern Europe.
For example fly by low-cost airline somewhere to the East, stay there for one or two days and then start interrailing.
Then a 10 in 22 Interrail pass could be fine as well:

Only as an example, but think about these cities:
Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Budapest - Belgrade/Montenegro/Croatia Coast/Slovenia/Lake Bled - Munich - Vienna - Bratislava - fly back home.
Here you will find the train connections, also night trains. Click the train name to find details about the extra fees and where to buy them: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Good for a night train would be the part Prague-Krakow.
And if you like all the information given here on railcc, support it and purchase your official Interrail Pass on the recommended website. Free delivery to the UK. Thank you.
