Hi !
We are planning a trip around Spain on this summer.
We would like to buy a global pass (3 journeys on 1 month) and we are wondering if we'll need to pay some supplements for :

Barcelona-Malaga
Granada-Seville
Seville-Madrid

We know that there is no train between Malaga and Granada.... but maybe there are bus ??

thank you :)

Hi.
On most long-distance connections you will need a reservation. It is usually between EUR 6,50 and EUR 10 per train.

Example connections are here:

Barcelona - Malaga: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/barcelona-to-malaga

Granada - Sevilla: it is the route Almeria-Seville - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/almeria-to-seville

Sevilla - Madrid: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/seville-to-madrid
Use on thos journey the cheaper options by AVIA train, not by AVE.

Concerning the fares: if you know your exact travel dates and times, sometimes special prices tickets might be even cheaper than Interrail: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-pass-spain

Point to point tickets for Spain are available online: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/renfe[/ux]

Interrail reservations are also available online: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

Hi !
Thank you for your answer :)

So, with one country pass, we have to pay 123 euros + 20 euros of supplements = 143 euros. Do you really think it could be cheaper without interrail ? For example, Barcelona-Malaga, without interrail costs 144 euros on july 8th... Where/when could we find special prices ?
Point to point tickets for Spain are available online. You get an email with a code for a PDF-file to print it out. This you have to take with you to Spain and exchange it at a ticket machine to a real ticket. Easy. :)
Are you talking about reservation (supplements) or about normal tickets (without interrail) ?

Hi.
Usually train tickets are only available up to 3 months in advance, so not now for July.

Just tested a random date in March at the railcc shop and found...
Barcelona - Malaga: EUR 74
Granada - Seville: EUR 30
Seville - Madrid: EUR 55
Total: EUR 159 - and you might find even cheaper tickets.

Interrail incl. reservations total: EUR 143
If you want to be more flexible - maybe stay one day more or less in a place, buy Interrail.
If you have fixed travel dates AND you can get SPECIAL FARES - even better ones than the ones mentioned, point to point could be an alternative. :)
But it looks like Interrail is in your case the better deal. :)

Thank you !
Those informations are very useful. I think we'll wait, check prices for point to point on march/april and see what is the better deal. :)

note that for shorter distance-like Sev-Grnd in Andalucia, buses run hourly or so and can be even cheaper as an advance train ticket. As so many IR-users for some reason always ask for nighttrains: there is a nighttrain from Barca to Sevilla (now, I think)-hoteltren and also plenty of overnight buses to any big city in Andalucia. This may be an even cheaper other way as money is more importt as time or the idea of having sat in those hi-speed trains.
IF you choose trains-try to also reserve as soon as poss-as there are also QUOTA for IR-holders and these may be exhausted when you try later. As a rough rule, IR for only ESpana is most often a a bad buy-but there are exceptions.

The Barcelona - Sevilla has been withdrawn in 2010. :|

You're right, buses could be an alternative... I know there is a bus between Malaga and Grenade which costs 10 euros. I should check for the others short-distances.
And if it's too expensive, we could also ride horse ^^

Thank you for advices :)

Hello
We are trying to make reservations for supplements (we have an one country pass) with railcc but, for all trains, it is said No product match search criteria. Same thing when I try from Renfe website...
So where could we make reservations ?

Hi.
Maybe it is because of the change in the schedules, that not all connections are already put in the international databases by Renfe: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route
