Hi all
Doing a 30 day trip in April, just wondering whether it would be wise to make reservations for night trains/high speed trains in advance this time of year, or whether it could be done day before each time - any help would be great
thanks

Hi Luke.
There is no general rule ... it always depends on the route, the day you travel, ...
Also if school holidays for Easter will start or not on a weekend in the country you travel.
A lot of factors. :)
Which routes you want to travel?
Peter :)

1.Easter is not in all countries a big holiday. Seems to me esp. the english go crazy about that. But in some countries-scandi, it already starts on the thursday. Many nighttrains do not run on night 1st/2nd easter. Another nasty surprise is 1/5-often more cancellations.
2. about ALL nighttrains do require RES and if not-you are well advised to spend the few eur to do so-would you fancy being thrown of your seat in the mid of night and have to stand? Prs-GNV does not have nighttrain. Malm-Ber only runs every other day now. Many nighttrains have only 1 or 2 coahces for seats-that means 80/120 or so places-the rest is sleeper or couchette.
3.those FR TGV-superfast trains have that nasty very small ''quota'' for IR-users and often are booked solid weeks advance-unless you pay far more. There are ways to avoid them-but they eat time.
