Hi
I will be travelling thru Czech, Poland and then up to Sweden later this year (November).
WIll likely be using separate train passes for both Poland and Sweden, and was looking to link bewteen the two countries via ferry.
From what i can find, my best options appear to be:
Gdańsk to Nynäshamn (Polferrie 650sek one way, 19hours)
or
Gdynia to Karlskrona (Stenaline 43Euro oneway 12.5hours)
Just wondering if these are the cheapest options availalbe, or whether anyone can suggest any different.
There will be 2 of us travelling together.
I do recall a few years back when getting the ferry from finalnd to Sweden i found it much cheaper to get a ticket on the day compared to what was advertised on website etc. Not sure if this would be the case in this situation also.
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Lindsay

Hi Lindsay.
Polferries and Stenaline are the ones I know as well. And the prices are like you mentioned.
There are no cheaper ferries available.
If you want to add some extra countries, think about travelling via the Baltic countries (combination of bus and train) - very inexpensive and interesting.
A route in reverse direct as an example starting from Helsinki (but you can replace it, see connections for more details):

Thanks Peter.
I did actually see/read a thread with those countries you mentioned as that area does interest me a lot. I would love to get over there if i had a little more time but unfortunately it will not really be possible on this trip as we and my better half only have 4-5 weeks.
Having a bit of a further look, it appears that it may even be cheaper for us to fly from warsaw to stockholm as compared to catching the ferry. And it will save us almost a days travel aswell.

you could look into cheap flights-if you can book NOW it may not cost that much more as the ferry in hi-season: norwegian.com
There are also ferries from Swinoujscie=just north of Szczecin, NW corner, to nearby Sweden-Trelleborg and/or Ystad-on of them also Polferries. This route is much shorter.
OR from nearby Germany-Sassnitz-to trelleborg-always used tob e very cheap, but take care: NO more easy connection in Sassn from train to ferry!!
