Hi All,
I will be in Europe between the 14th of May and the 17th of June 2012.
It is my first time to Europe and I am finding all of the information a little overwhelming about which tickets to purchase.
I am under 25 so I believe i fall under the youth category. While my partner is an adult. We were wanting to use trains to save on cost, particularly overnight trains where possible to save both time and money.
We are thinking of going second class, however if there is not a huge difference in prices we would consider first class.
A rough Itinerary I have so far is
Amsterdam
Frankfurt
Munich
Nuremberg
Berlin
Prague
Vienna
Budapest
Zagreb
Sarajevo
Mostar
Dubrovnik
Split ....
We then have to return back to amsterdam to catch our flight back to Sydney so I was thinking about getting trains from
Zagreb --Munich--Amsterdam
It would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me which ticket system you would purchase if you were me and if you have any better ideas about how to return to Amsterdam.
Thanks for taking the time to read :D
Kind regards
Teighan

Hi Teighan.
Here now the information for you. And yes, it might look a bit complicate with all the different options of tickets.
You definitely have to use an Eurail pass, as you are non-European.
The countries you will visit are:
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Czech Rep.
- Austria
- Hungary
- Croatia
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
Travel days are: ~11 - if you exclude Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it is not available for Eurail. Nor worries, in this area, bus travel is more common (more connections than by train) and as well very cheap.
Simply buy individual point to point tickets - are use buses.
For all types of Eurail passes I recommend, have a look at the SAVER option. It is cheaper when travelling in a group of 2-5 persons (your case!).
You could use a 10 days in 2 months Eurail Global Pass:

An other option could be a 5 country pass - if travelling the Croatia and Bosnia area by buses:
https://rail.cc/en/eurail-select-pass
To save travel days, you could try to get some special prices via the website of the German national railway Deutsche Bahn ( [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] ).
Nuremberg - Munich: by Bayern-Ticket for EUR 30 for 2 persons per day with even having some stops on the route, for example including Füssen with Schloss Neuschwanstein.
I hope this will help you as a first step ...
Peter :)
