i need to get from paris to barcelona (overnight) in april. are you only able to book this train if you've already purchased a eurail pass, or is there a different price if you don't buy a pass? also, for the cheaper option you mentioned, do you have to have a eurail pass? and are you able to get a compartment with 2 beds on the cheaper option? i'm wondering if we'd actually be able to sleep some during the night with that option, or if we should just do the cheaper seats on the direct route (reclining seats rather than couchettes) if we wouldn't get much sleep anyway w/ all the changing.
thanks for your help! i've been looking at tickets for weeks and have found it all so confusing as i've never used the eurail system!

Hi.
We listed here some connections:
https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-barcelona

If you only travel from Paris to Barcelona and not other connections, then a point-to-point ticket will be a good option.
For example available online for the direct night train (it is an expensive one!):
[ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]

If you travel several routes within Europe, think about an Eurail pass:

Then you can get the Rail pass fares.

Cheapest option is by night train to southern France, then by local train to Barcelona. Or for example crossing the Pyrenees via Latour de Carol:
