Travelling Russia by train requires a visa. It is not that hard to get, but you have to pay for it.
The easiest way is to search for an agency specialized on visa for Russia. As earlier you buy it (more time you have), as cheaper it is (slower processing time = cheaper).
I recommend to use an agency in your country of residence.
