From various railfora I have understood, that FS has cancelled many of its nighttrains per 12/12/11-when the general timetable change was in Europe. So this means that many of the connections given in the advice need to be rechecked, and that you have far fewer possibilities as till now for travelling overnight-and it thus also likely means much more crowded trains that still run.

The overnight trains ITalia-FRance are now run by a private company/set up, named THELLO-and do NOT accept IRtix-at least not for now. Cheapest way is a seat-from 29/35 eur, IF with lots of luck booked long time before. Have as of yet no furhter details, nor the correct website. This also means that many odf the advice above on routings has to be readjusted.
The one and only nighttrain IT-SLOvenia-and onto Hrvatska-HUngary, is said to also cancelled? Am unsure about it-check.

We are aware of that and will edit the relevant info (if it has not been done yet).
- Thello (thello.com) is not yet accepting IR/ER...and it seems that they are not very keen to do so at the moment...
- Venezia - Beograd: Service suspended, possibility for a limited service during summer season
- Domestic Italian night trains: Most services are suspended north of Bologna and Roma respectively
Thank you for the update anyway. :)
