Hey Guys!

Me and my friends are planning an Italy-Tours next summer. We are not sure if we should do the trip on our own or with an organization so we wanted to calculate how much it would cost to do it alone and with Interrail. We thought about going to the cities Roma, Milano,Venezia, Firenze. Unfortunately we only have 2 weeks for our trip. We wanted to fly eather to Milano or Rome (prices are similiar). A flight to Firenze is more expensive.

We wanted to stay for 5-7 days in Rome, 3-4 in Milano, 2-3 Days in Firenze ( maybe do one daytrip to Pisa during stay in Firenze? and we would like to do a daytrip to Venize.
Which order of the cities should we choose so we haven´t to pay extra for the train? Should we start from Rome and go north oder start in Milano and go south?
I know that there is a train from Milano to Venize thats for free with InterrailPass but we don´t want to stay there for the night. Is it possible to take the train back to Milano at the same day and then go south at the next day to Firenze?

I hope you can help us because it´s our firs tour with Interrail!

Hi.
The Interrail pass which might fit your needs could be either an Interrail ONE Country Pass Italy:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-pass-italy
Or the Interrail Global Pass 5 days in 10:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass

To plan to find connections for free using with Interrail pass, wait until the change of the schedules taking part every December. After that, we will update the connections. There are as well more connections available using the schedule planers.

Other option is by single train tickets of Trenitalia. Check their website and calculate prices. Tickets available up to 2-3 months in advance.

Just a short answer. ;)

More time now.
I recommend to fly to Rome, then by train via Pisa (day stop is enough) to Florence. From Florence to Venice, then to Milan and fly back home.
Three - four days in Milan is a lot. One day should be enough. :)
