Hi everyone,
I've got a few questions about the sud-express. First of all: Are the seats any comfortable(reclining, leg room)? As i'm pretty tall (1,90 m), it sometimes is a tight fit :D . Or is the T4 better value for money? I also read that There is a 25% discount on the ticket price for people younger then 26 years. Does one need a special card or something to apply for this? And if so, can I buy one in the Netherlands?

Thanks,
Joop

Hi!

Well...the seats are reclining a little...I'd say they are ok. The worst thing that can happen is that you get a seat in one of the 4 seat coupes where you sit face to face, rather than the usual airline style of seating. These are 2x4 places at one end of the coach, seat numbers should be 1A-1D and 2A-2D.
A picture of seats similar to those of the Surex is here :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/granada-barcelona-th-894/83 (the Talgo rakes used for the Surex are more modern than the coach on the picture)

T4 pictures can be found here :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/lisbon-madrid-th-335-/72
I went Lisboa - Madrid last year and found it very comfortable. However, beds are certainly not for human beings taller than ~1,80m but anyway it certainly will be more comfortable than seats. Plus you get extra earplugs, toothbrush etc... ;)

You should be able to get tickets at https://venta.renfe.com/vol/index.do - there you can also select <26, as far as I've seen you do not need an extra card to get this discount.
