Hi!

Looks like a nice trip, the 10in22 should be just the suitable option for this. You might even think to add another stop en route, or head back home again by train instead of plane.

Cost wise the pass is certainly a good idea, if you make 10 travels, each one is 36,90€ (plus some reservations), which will be hard to beat (and much more complicated) with regular tickets bought well in advance.

Kobenhavn - Berlin: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/copenhagen-to-berlin
Berlin - Praha: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/berlin-to-prague
Praha - München: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/prague-to-munich
München - Venezia: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/munich-to-venice
Venezia - Roma: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/venice-to-rome
Roma - Nice: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/rome-to-nice
Nice - Barcelona: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/nice-to-barcelona
Barcelona - Madrid: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/barcelona-to-madrid

Please note that there is a timetable change in mid-december; if you are travelling after that date, you can already plan with the above connections - but please check again after we have updated the connections (what we will do over the Christmas period).
Also, the connections mentioned are only some examples which we selected as they are nice routes for InterRailers, you can look for alternatives with the travel planners online :arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Total ticket cost estimate:

369€ 10in22 IR ticket
19€ couchette reservation Malmö - Berlin night train
25€ couchette reservation München - Venezia night train or 7€ supplement for day train
10€ reservation for fast train Venezia - Roma
10€ reservation (depending on chosen connection) on the Roma - Nice route
10€ reservation for AVE Barcelona - Madrid

Total: 443€

You can buy your ticket and most reservations at our partner - thank you! :)
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route

If you have any other questions, just ask. :)

Hi Flo,
told i would be back :D ,
could you suggest please another stop en route that would work with my itenary(a wildcard would be nice) :D ,also you suggest i take the train back home,im a little confused on that one :| ,i had tallied up my 10 days travel within 22 days and if i have done my calculations properly,my 22 days would end in madrid, your advice would be greatly appreciated :)

- Well, Vienna could be interesting for a quick stop - then I'd suggest to go Praha - München - Wien (all during the day) and then with the night train to Venezia.
Or how about the Swiss Alps? However, this probably would be a little more complicate to integrate if you want to go to Venezia afterwards.
Then, another option would be the Petit Train Jaune :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/villefranche-de-conflent-to-latour-de-carol on the way to Barcelona
If you like Italy, you could make stops en route for instance in Firenze, or along the Cinque Terre.

- Regarding going home by train. I calculated with only 8 travel days so far, since you could buy regular tickets to explore the Côte d'Azur (Nice - Cannes, Nice - Monaco are really short distances and not worth using a full travel day of your pass, especially if you could use it to add another city elsewhere).
What I was thinking of could look like this:
Travel to Madrid as planned, eight travel days used (assumed you buy regular tickets for the short legs Kobenhavn - Malmö and around Nice). Travel to Paris with either one (during the day or with expensive Elipsos night train) or two (during the night with cheap Lunéa night train) of your left travel days :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/madrid-to-paris
In case you opt for the solution with only one travel day you would still have one left which you could use for the Kobenhavn - Malmö leg for instance.
Depending on your budget (time and money) ;) you could then either stay in Paris or proceed to the UK; fastest way would be with Eurostar to London, more interesting however would be the ferry Calais - Dover.

Of course this is just a suggestion since I'm not overly fond of travelling by plane. ;)

Yup. Night train :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-venice-en-237/96
How long? Well, one or two days I'd say. Depends on your overall schedule - you should be able to fit in Wien (or any other extra stop) if you cut one or two days around Nice for example - since although the Côte d'Azur is really nice I dont think you need 5 days for it. I've been to Monaco in 2009 and we only spent about half a day there. Had a walk along the F1 track and that's about it what you can do there IMO. ;)

I've posted the link with all the options you have for Madrid - Paris in my above post.

Hi Flo :) your worst nightmare back again!!! :| ,
i must say before i found your site it was all very daunting, but since finding it it now is starting to make a lot of sense and now looking at this with more excitment and vigeour.
i wonder if you could now look at my changed itenary to see if it seems ok (a few small changes)!!lol..

fly to kopenhagen (3 days)

validate to berlin (night train) 3 days
prague(day train) 2 days
munich(day train) 2 days
wein (day train) 2 days
venice (night train)2 days
rome (day train) 2 days
nice 3 days(using point to point tickets for canne, monaco etc
barcelona(day train) 3 days
madrid (day train) 3 days
paris (night train)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------would i be right in saying that if i took the expensive train from madrid to paris then i would have a extra travel day that i could use for kopenhagen-malmo
or just pay for point to point frm kopenhagen - malmo
and get the cheaper train from madrid to paris and that would use up all my travel days????

hope this makes sense!!!lol...
thankyou...

Just a short reply: don't use a travel day for Malmö - Copenhagen. Single train tickets available for around EUR 12. :)

Humm...well with this schedule you'd need 9 travel days up to Madrid. So, that leaves you with only two possiblities to go to Paris with the one remaining day:

- Day train (with connection in Hendaye)
- Direct expensive night train

Still a little complicated... :D

Well,

if you leave out Wien you'll need 9 travel days to get to Madrid - so nothing has changed...you cant take Lunéa in that case.
For Madrid - Paris with Lunéa you need two travel days.

No problem! ;)

Of course you could get a regular ticket for one of the other legs as well.

Cheapest option in that case probably would be either )Berlin - Praha, Praha - München or Venezia - Roma

Hi Steven.
The 1900h-rule is only for DIRECT night trains. It is already a kind of present helping you saving travel days, but you can't use it to catch the night train on the route Copenhagen - Malmö.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
You can use the night train starting the 1st in Malmö, fill in the 2nd as your travel day - then you can use the direct night train Malmö - Berlin and it counts as only one of your travel days. If you want, you can continue traveling the whole day from Berlin to where ever as you filled in the 2nd as travel day.
You wanted to use the rule in reverse which is not possible.
Peter :)

Hi Steven,

the thing is this:

- For the Malmö - Berlin night train you can make use of the 1900 rule for night trains - for further details on this rule please have a look here :arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
- This means that your IR pass has to be valid already on the day you are leaving Kobenhavn/Malmö for Berlin. But, and this is important, you will have to enter the following day in your pass to make use of the 1900-rule. As a consequence you will have to get a regular ticket from Kobenhavn to Malmö even though your IR pass is active already.

EDIT: Peter was faster ;)

No it isn't. It is a ticket outlet.
If a reservation is not possible, you will have to buy it at a railway station. Which reservation you want exactly?
