Hi Peter...I need some help with my trip...Are you sure that you pay only 9 euros to go from venice to vienna with euronight train because i have read at another forums that you must pay 25 euros and also i cannot find the price in obb...do you know if there is any alternative route from venice to vienna?

Hi!

9€ is the reservation fee for either a seat on the IC Bus Venezia - Villach - Klagenfurt or a seat on the night trains Roma - Venezia - Wien or Venezia - Salzburg - Wien if you are travelling with a Rail Pass (InterRail/Eurail).
Regular fares start from 29€ for a seat, 49€ for a couchette, 69€ for a sleeper (subject to availability).

Is this info updated? I see there is now a direct EuroCity train between Venice and Vienna, departing at 15h59 from Santa Lucia. Does anyone know if there is a reservation fee for this train?

Hi,

the compulsory reservation fee for passholders (for the entire route) on Eurocity trains 30/31 Vienna <-> Venice is 15€ in 2nd class, 20€ in first class.

If you have only a pass for italy or austria, the price is 29€ (incl. reservation) in 2nd class, 39€ in 1st class.

Hi, thank you very much for the information. I'm checking alternative (free) routes, but it looks like the one suggested here ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail/venice-to-vienna ) includes taking this Eurocity train in Villach. In this case, I don't need to pay the 15€ reservation fee?

Hi,

no the reservation fee is not required for domestic travel in Austria with this train.
