Hi,

I've read in a couple of places that this Elipsos sleeper between Barcelona and Zurich (via Bern) is not running anymore, is this true?

Also, if it is running, how much is the supplement fee with an InterRail Global Pass?

Kind Regards,
Rory

Hi Rory,

the Barcelona - Zürich Elipsos has been withdrawn in December 2012.

Hey,

Oh I see, any idea what would be the best way to get between these two cities by train?

Ouch that's a long time! Might be better off flying that part...

One last quick question, how would you recommend going between Bordeaux and Madrid by train?

Bordeaux St Jean 0746 - 1014 Hendaye
Cross the border on foot or take an Euskotren service (about 1€) to Irun
Irun 1123 - 1910 Madrid Chamartin :arr: MD service, reservation required
Or take the Cercanias suburban train from Irun to San Sebastian, spend the day at the beach and take the following train:
San Sebastian 1639 - 2200 Madrid Chamartin :arr: Alvia service, reservation required

Fantastic, thank you! Where are you finding such precise information if you don't mind me asking?

Also how do I start a forum, can't seem to figure it out....

Hej,

have a look here for schedules: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
However, these journey planners are not really intelligent so experience helps as well. ;)
For instance, you wont find the Bordeaux - Madrid connection if you enter Bordeaux as departure and Madrid as arrival station since the Euskotren services across the border are not included in the database used by these schedule planners. You would have to make two different searches, one for Bordeaux - Hendaye, another for Irun - Madrid.

Glad you finally found us. ;)

There is a number of connections we have edited: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Anyway, we cannot show all connections and include all minor changes of schedule so it is always a good idea to check these timings with the help of one of the before mentioned schedule search engines.

Yeah sure, will do!

I'm looking at getting the new Thomas Cook Rail Timetable, even though it has been technically discontinued, the people who made the old ones are carrying it on for small orders. The only thing is that the one they're releasing is for March 2014, but I'm going from April-May, do you think it will still be helpful?

Yeah, to get an overall impression of timings and connections it is definitely very helpful. I always take it with me while travelling and also cant always take the latest issue with me but it has helped me a lot nonetheless. Most changes of schedules that occur during the year are minor and wont have a big influence on xour actual travels.

Brilliant, sold!!

Even if the train times aren't spot on it will still give me a good idea of the routes to/from places etc
