From FLORENCE and PISA to BARCELONA by ferry.
Information for Interrail, Eurail and travellers without special rail passes.

The ferry connection FLORENCE and Rome (Livorno) to Barcelona runs every second day.
Interrail and Eurail Pass travellers receive a discount on the normal fare.
It is an alternative to the route along the French coast.

The departure harbour is Livorno, close to Florence and Pisa. You can reach Livornoeasily from there by direct trains.
Distance Livorno railway station to Livorno harbour: walk of 45 minutes.

Information and booking:
Florence - Barcelona: https://rail.cc/en/livorno/ferry/c
Barcelona - Florence: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/barcelona-livorno/25

If you want to save money and don't want to book a cabin (only a seat), the ferry starting from Civitavecchia (close to Rome) is the cheaper solution: https://rail.cc/en/civitavecchia/ferry/c

Hi Peter

There is a Night Train Running from Vienna to Livorno (Ferry connection) and v.v. There are only a few journeys over the summer period.

The details are:
Wien Meidling dep 20:29 EN 1137 Toscana Mare (train name)
Livorno Centrale arr 08:56
Duration: 12:27

Livorno Centrale dep 19:25 EN 1144
Wien Meidling arr 08:55

It does not run every day, but includes feasible early morning Italy set-downs in Bologna, Florence and Pisa, and evening Italy pick-ups in Pisa, Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Rovigo, Padua and Udine.

I don't know what the fees and supplements are but would think that they would be similar to other night trains.
Hope this is helpful to some Interailers and Eurailers.

Cheers

Richard
