Hi guys,
Just wanted to double check our route for next year's interrailing (June/July). I know it's early but really want to get cheap flights sorted asap! I'm also (unfortunately) prone to loosing interest in ideas if they're not acted on, so yeah. Flights need to be booked :p:
Basically, we're half way between 5 in 10 and 10 in 22... I only want to travel for around 3 weeks due to work commitments and expenses.. so we either cut down or go for more expensive ticket even though we're not using it to it's full potential?
Basically - a few questions.
1) Berlin - Krakow, we're thinking of doing the straight day train, rather than the night train (which seems to involve changes). Obviously we'd have to coordinate this with the day it runs on, and we do lose a whole day.. but the idea of changing at 1am in a strange station scares me a little.
2) We estimate we'll have around 3 nights (give or take 1) in each city, is this enough? Don't want to pack in too much!
3) Would you say around £1000 was enough to budget (without the rail ticket)?
4) How many people are too many to go on a trip like this? We currently have 3 confirmed, and 2 maybes. My gut instinct is to not mention it as a 'come along' type thing as 5 is quite a few.
5) Last question, I've read it's best to book the next city's hostels from the current city etc, but would you recommend this if the majority of our stay is during July?
Thanks guys :)

Hi.
1) Change your route a little bit and save on travel time.
Amsterdam - Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/amsterdam-to-berlin
Berlin - Prague: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/berlin-to-prague
If you want, start in the morning from Berlin to Dresden (directly on this route and nice to see) and continue in the evening to Prague.
Prague - Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/prague-to-krakow
Krakow - Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/krakow-to-budapest
Budapest- Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/budapest-to-vienna
From Vienna you can use the airport bus (or also a single train ticket, not expensive ~ EUR 10) to Bratislava where you will find the airport of some low-cost airlines to fly back home: https://rail.cc/en/vienna-bratislava-airport-bus/f3291
So I think the 5 in 10 will fit your needs. Except if the 10 days in total will not be enough time to stay in each city. If you book early, you can get special discounted tickets for Budapest to Vienna for EUR 19. Only if the 10 days aren\\\'t enough.
2) Three nights are good for each city you will visit.
3) Definitely enough. Always depends if you stay in dorms, what you eat and so on. Make a calculation for one day: food (EUR 10), accommodation (EUR 25), extras (EUR 10). So you have per day EUR 45.
And 15 days you area travelling. Total: EUR 675 ... just a fast calculation. No details. ;)
Cost calculator: https://rail.cc/en/overall-costs
4) Depends on if you are good friends or not... but you don\\\'t have to spent all day long together. Split up: https://rail.cc/en/alone-or-group
5) As you know your route and dates are fixed (more or less), I recommend to book in advance, especially in July: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
And finally: if you want to support our railcc project, buy your tickets here in our partner:

Free delivery is possible in standard shipping service. Thank you. :)

Hello :D
Id like to make you a suggestion: try to make a day trip to dresden (from berlin) and to Salzburg (from vienna), this two small cities are usually undervalued and they are really beautiful.
And by the way, in my opinion 4/5 people is just perfect, and it's good to plan trips with time, it is never soon enough :D
Wish you have a great trip,
ANDREW
