Hey!
I just wanted to ask if this train is still operating? Because the route planner shows it had been functioning only till May, 26th 2012. Now it doesn't show any overnight connection on this route. I want to use this train very soon so I'd like to ask if this connection still exists? And if not, I'd like to ask if there is some another overnight connection between Sofia and Bucharest (I know there is a day train, but I'd prefer to make this part of journey during the night to be in Bucharest in the morning).

Hej,

I have not heard any reports that this route is suspended. However, there are reports that the regular sleeping car between Sofia and Bucuresti is not available and therefore a sleeping car of the portion of the train to Moscow is used.

There are no other night trains on that route. Anyway, I would recommend to have a quick look on the websites of BDZ and CFR if there are any indications that the train is not running.

Hi,

currently the Bulgaria is to be reported as running with an ABy, an old German (east) regional coach with open seats, no compartments. Additionally a sleeper should run but it is reported as not running regularly. There should be no specific safety issues, during summer you might meet lots of other InterRailers on that route. And there is of course the daytime train as well if you'd prefer that. :)

Hi!

You can buy tickets locally at Sofia station.
As far as I know the train only cosists of Russian sleepers to Moscow and regular seats to Bucharest; you can use the Russian sleepers to Bucharest, there should be 4/2/1bed sleepers available.

Thank you Flo! :D
I really want to know ,if possible, that I am entitled to rent two- sleeper-beds before and online .Can I do this online?
I worry that I will get there and the station people will tell me I can not get the beds because wetravel only to Bucharest or ...there are no available beds...
Do I worry too much?
I travel with my dad (70 year old) and without a bed the trip might be too much for him.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

No, you cannot book that train online, only at a station. If you are travelling around Europe before, you can try to get the reservation at stations in other countries as well but I am not entirely sure if this is possible.
If you show up a few days in advance it should not be a problem to get your tickets and since you cannot buy them online you do not really have an alterative option.

Thanks again Flo :D !
I will arrive by plane from Athens late at night and plan on taking the train next evening.
Any idea if the train station will be open till 1-2 a.m. and how much will the sleeper/trip be? ?

No, I dont think you will get your ticket that late (you will have to go to the RILA office at Sofia station to buy international tickets).
Calculate with 29€ for the ticket plus 12€ for a reservation in a 4bed sleeper (per person); and with 40-50€ for the ticket plus 22€ for a reservation in a 2bed sleeper (per person).

I hope you can do your trip as planned - it would be nice to hear from your experiences (and get detailed price information) after your trip. :)

Hy Flow and everyone :D ,

Our trip is planned but we coul not find a way to reserve those tickets o) online yet and we are still looking for a way to Bucharest. If a sleeper ticket+reservation will get us close to 70 euros then,we might fly for around 60 euros more...
By the way...how much can a taxi charge us from the airport to hotel Budapest?

Hello!

In the last days of June I will be in Sofia and from there I plan to travel on my own to Bucharest by train.

I would like to know if the night train (departure 18:45 p.m, arrival 05:16 a.m) will still be suspended during June?

dep. 1845 / arr. 0516: https://rail.cc/en/train/sofia-to-bucharest

If not I guess I will have to consider the day train, unless there are any other times available?

dep. 0755 / arr. 1715: https://rail.cc/en/train/sofia-to-bucharest

Also, I would like to know the prices for day train connection (1 person) or night train booking a couchette?

Thank you!

Hi!

There are no news that the night train will run again any time soon; so for now you have to stick to the day train.
A single ticket in 2nd class will be 25€.

Hello,

Is that price of 25 eur for the day train confirmed? There is no way to find all the needed info on Rila page or on BDZ page.

Thank you

Look here: [ux]http://www.triptkts.ro/Itinerarii_en.aspx[/ux]
Select departure and arrival, then on Ruta 1 which will appear below if you click on the + symbols.
You are looking for SET tariff. :)
