We are looking to travel from Vienna to Rome on the 235 overnight service in 2015.

We're looking to travel in a 2 berth sleeper with private shower.

How long in advance does the booking window open for this train route.

Thanks.

Hi

If you follow the link from the previous post it seems to show 7 weeks advance booking time. So today you could book as far ahead as 12 December.
My experience over the past two years is that if you want to be sure of getting a sleeper with private facilities you need to go online (Through the railcc links of course) as soon as possible after bookings open because they do go fairly quickly, particularly in summer and holiday periods.

Happy Travels

Hi,

according to ÖBB (Austrian Railways), pre booking time extends as long as 180 days - however this can be shorter around the timetable changes in mid December and June due to late provision of timetable data, mainly on the Italian side.

Thanks Flo and Ardeeay.

I was a little confused because I had looked on different websites and got different booking windows. :((

I think I'll start looking through railcc at the 180 day mark an keep checking until they show up as available.

Do either of you know (or anyone else) - does railcc get the access to bookings at the same time as the ÖBB and Trenitalia booking windows open?

Thanks. David. :D

Hi

I can't speak with any great authority about most European railway companies but I found that the railcc/DBahn-CNL booking site was really good. The railcc link is identical with what you would get directly on the DBahn site both in timing and price. I went on-line at 10 am Australian Eastern Summer Time which equates to midnight German standard time, and think I was nearly always first in the queue at a most civilised hour for Austraila and of course ahead of Europe business hours (and I never missed a booking for a sleeper with en suite facilities!) These bookings are available 180 days in advance but it pays to have a trial run a few days in advance just in case.

Cheers

Hi.
Just as technical background: railcc is not a company, but simply a project.
For example the [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] booking tool is 1:1 the same as the one of bahn.de - like Ardeeay already wrote: in times and prices. You can even log in there with your bahn.de username and password. Shipping of the tickets or the e-tickets come directly from bahn.de. - and railcc gets a little commission which won't affect your ticket price. Such partner tools are required to keep the railcc project online, as we have to pay as well for servers, programming, translations, collecting all the content and some food. :)
In general you can say: if a booking tool sells tickets/reservations, it has 1:1 access to the databases of the national railway companies.
Peter :)
